8 months

At 8 months Smith:
is saying "ba" or "baba" (which sounds like "bubba.")
can go from laying down to sitting up all by himself.
still has no teeth.
can pull up and stand holding onto something.
is scooting and rolling everywhere and is so close to crawling.
loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Handy Manny.
loves riding in his new red wagon.
is eating cheerios and crackers.

He is so much fun and is growing every day!

sutton.

Our friend, Sutton came over to play while she and her mommy were in town. It was THE funniest thing. Smith and Sutton were both so amused by each other. They were touching each other's faces and pulling each other's ears and noses.! It was so cute.
and then... I guess Sutton decided that Smith was too sweet to resist!!!
(Smith looks like she is telling him a really serious secret...)
While they were in town, Emily and I had Renee Reedy take pictures of the kiddos. Although Smith is normally a happy, smiley baby he did not smile ONE time for Renee. He never cried, he just looked like it he was thinking, "Why am I wearing this stupid outfit with the dumb collar?"...and "Why do ya'll keep calling my name and shaking things at me?" On the other hand, Sutton smiled and giggled all day. This picture is a perfect description of how our pictures went!I can't wait to share the pictures with you when Renee gets them up on her blog!

curve.

Thanks to those of you who were sweet enough to take the time to quiz yourselves about ME!

I must admit that question #5 seemed to throw almost everyone for a loop. If you remember correctly, Smith and I took a road trip to Lake Oconee near ATLANTA, GA to meet our friends Emily and Sutton who happen to live in South Carolina. I posted about it here. I surely did not mean to make it a trick question!

just call us prudence and parsimony

my sister and i have a guilty pleasure.
it requires rising before the sun, wads of cash, a fat copy of the morning paper, lots of diet coke and an open, creative mind.
oh yeah, and a map (or in our case, my trusty blackberry that saved the day)!

What is this hobby of ours?
Garage Sales!

If you are up to the challenge, (and it IS a challenge) you might end up with a loot like this!

A few of my favorite finds:
the green ladder for displays at MINT = $10
a few frames/trays/mirrors = 25 cents each
Banana Republic Trouser jeans. my size. my length. great condition. = $3
4 pair of shoes (for Smith AND me) = $6
the precious red wagon for my little man = $5
and the jewel....
the FABULOUS topiaries that I LOVE!
tags still attached from The Everyday Gardner in Jackson.
their price $92.50 each. my price $12 each!

So it's 7:30 am. All the yards and garages are clearing out, our SUVs (yes that is plural) are full and it has been a successful morning. What in the world do we do with the rest of the day? Two words that make me even happier than garage sale...

ESTATE AUCTION!

7 hours, a truckload of goodies and a wonderful and STRONG brother-in-law later....

to be continued....

milk.

THE. MOST. exciting. thing. happened. this. morning!!!!

I have been trying to teach Smith a few signs to help him communicate with me. For the past few weeks, it seems that he has been understanding what I am doing. I will do the sign for "milk" and he will smile and get really excited!

This morning he was sitting on the floor playing and started getting fussy. I asked, "Do you want some milk?"....and he pulled up his cute little fat hand so slowly, thinking very hard about it, put it near his chest and DID the SIGN!!!

It was absolutely the sweetest thing I have ever seen!!!

custom made.

I would like to preface this post by saying three things:
#1. I cannot believe I let my husband talk me into this.
#2. I did NOT purchase this for my child. It was a gift from Smith's friend, Porter, or should I say...from Porter's daddy.
#3. I will not let my child watch wrestling, have wrestling dolls, etc.

That being said, Smith wants to send a birthday shout out to his daddy's favorite wrestler
Ric Flair!
Happy 60th to the only man who can "dance all night long."
"He can't help that he's custom made!"

baby it's cold outside

We were excited to wake up to a snow-covered yard this morning! Gannie was here visiting and it was Smith's first time to see snow! (Stella's too!) Smith loves going outside and he thought it was super fun that it was so cold. He kept "jumping" with excitement!
