one cooperative kid....

If you're anything like me, you don't like posts that have NO pictures....so I will try my best to keep you entertained long enough to read my story!

Here goes nothing....

When I was a little girl, I was maybe a little stubborn. I hear stories all of the time about the hard-headed, fit-throwing child that I was...don't get me wrong - I was cute... I was just cute with a serious attitude.

To paint you a picture, my mother says the one thing that I "threw-a-fit" about the most was my SOCKS. I hated wearing socks because, get this....the "line" (or seam) across the top of my toes was not straight...or it was too high...or too low...WHATEVER I could find wrong! We have joked about this for years and my mama always said, "Just wait until you have children and have to get them dressed for school....I can't wait until they start kicking their legs and ripping their socks off!"

Well guess what MY child's favorite thing to do is?

Getting dressed for school and putting on his socks and shoes! Yep, the 13 month old RUNS to me like charging bull with his head down, laughing, to put his head through the neck of his shirt, then jumps in my lap and holds his feet out for socks and shoes!

To make things even easier...he LOVES getting his fingernails clipped! Have you ever heard of such? He sits by me on the couch and holds his fingers out...he watches so intently and is so curious!

So mama....for NOW at least....I have one cooperative kid!

we have not disappeared...

but our CAMERA has!

I am SO lost. My husband, who loves successfully searching for and finding things that I have misplaced (which is quite often) has given up hope. We both remember the exact moment we had it last and it has truly vanished into thin air!

So, without any precious pictures, I will have to bore you with words for a few days...

Bare with me until we find our camera or buy a new one...

THE backpack

Smith LOVES leaving the house for school. Now, me leaving him AT school is a different story. His doing good and gets a happy face every day , but it is going to take a while for him to get used to the new schedule!

Now...the leaving for school he loves for two reasons...
#1. He LOVES putting on his shoes!
AND...
#2. He LOVES his backpack!
I mean he wants to wear the thing around the house!
When I say, " Are you ready to go to school?"
He smiles and goes to get his backpack!

is that cute or what?

"cheese" and a redhead?

I have finally gotten Smith to stand still for a few pictures. I think he is getting the hang of saying "cheese!"
now we just have to work on saying "cheese" AND keeping our eyes opened at the same time!
His hair is cotton top blonde in person with no hint of red....
but you can't deny the redhead in these photos!

i love my blog.

i love my blog. but i love my child MUCH more.
i thought my sister and my friend Emily were a little "overprotective" when they went private and to be honest i thought it was silly to think something crazy would happen.
THEN...i saw this article!
(i have noticed i am not the only one among my fellow bloggers who saw this article!)
if you would like to keep up with our family, please post a comment below with your email address. i would love for you to watch my little man grow, i just want to know who you are!!!

Smith's first balloon!

daddy's boy

I really love the fact that Smith is a "momma's boy," but the kid sure loves his daddy, too! Smith loves copying and following his daddy! This was at the team brunch before church on Sunday and Smith was following his daddy around everywhere!

I think his daddy was proud to show him off!
(He was sizing him up to the offensive linemen!)

and he's off...

I took Smith to day care for the first time today! He was so exicted that he walked right in and started playing. I had to go back to the car to get his "supplies" and when I came back in the room he didn't even notice I was there! I stood in his room for a few minutes and talked to the teacher and he never even saw me! I can't wait to pick him up and see how his first day was!!

bowl cut and knee socks....

My sister and I are 10 and 7 years older than our little brother, Andrew. Needless to say, he always had THREE mommas. For a while, it was "cool" to be the elementary kid who had sisters that were "college girls!" Then in high school, he loved having some extra cheerleaders in his fan club during sporting events! These days, we are, as he puts it... "boring moms who go to bed too early."
I remember Andrew as a little kid with a cute little bowl cut
and his chubby little legs in knee socks!

This weekend, Andrew is leaving home and moving to Los Angeles, California. He doesn't have that bowl cut anymore and I am pretty sure he won't be sporting any knee socks in the California sun! I am so excited for him as he begins this exciting adventure.... He will be moving to LA to pursue modeling and acting and we wish him the best of luck!
Most importantly, we hope he has LOTS of fun!

He has done some work locally and here are some photos from his latest photo shoot. This month's edition of VIP Magazine featured fall fashion trends...

Smith and I went to say goodbye to Uncle Drew this week. Our parents had a going away party for him and we also celebrated his 20th birthday since he won't be home for it in a few weeks!

Happy Birthday and Good Luck! We love you!

a bad day at the doctor....

Smith has his one year check up and let me just say that I hope he doesn't remember it! The sequence of events went like this...
Nurse pricks his finger and he bleeds like they chopped his finger off...
Smith removes band-aid and bleeds even more...everywhere.
While waiting on the doctor, Smith falls and busts his head! It was such a loud, hard fall that the nurses came running in to check on us! It scared me to death! We were glad we happen to be at the doctor's office because it was a bad enough crash they I would have taken him there anyway! The doctor checked him out and said he seemed fine and that I needed to get used to all these bumps and bruises!
Once we finally calmed down from the crash, the nurses returned for his shots! Yep...after all that, the poor kid had TWO shots!
He's a trooper!

Stats:
26 lbs
31 inches
and a big head!

The bruise on his head already looks better than it did right when it happened. He looked like he got hit in the head with a baseball bat!

the sweetest sound...

fall practice...

I had an amazingly uplifting weekend at the Chrysalis camp and my sweet husband stayed home with the little man! Well, he was little when I left on Thursday! THIS is what he and Daddy did while I was away!

Gannie was there cheering him along....Thanks Gannie for coming to help out!
